Print-ready files follow specific technical requirements that ensure what you see on screen matches what actually comes out of the printer. Here's the complete rundown.

What "Print-Ready" Actually Means

A print-ready file is fully prepared for professional printing - it meets the technical specifications a printing press requires, covering resolution, color mode, file format, bleed, and safe zones. Missing any one of these can cause a visible problem in the final print, even if the design itself looks perfect on screen.

Resolution: 300 DPI Minimum

DPI stands for dots per inch. Screen designs are typically built at 72-96 DPI, which looks fine on a monitor but appears pixelated and blurry once printed. Always design at 300 DPI for standard print work. For large-format prints like banners and billboards, 150 DPI at final size is usually sufficient, since these are viewed from a greater distance.

Color Mode: CMYK, Not RGB
